These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Rivals platform, including our mobile app, website, and all related services (together, the "Platform"). Please read them carefully before using Rivals.
By creating an account or using the Platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Platform.
Rivals is operated by Rivals Group Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales, with offices at 71–75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London WC2H 9JQ ("Rivals", "we", "us", "our").
These Terms should be read alongside our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy, which are incorporated by reference.
Rivals is currently in Beta. The Platform is live and competitive events with tournament entry fees and prize awards are active, but features and policies are still being refined. We will notify you of any material changes to these Terms before they take effect.
Rivals is a competitive esports platform. We build the infrastructure for skill-based gaming competitions — enabling players to create tournaments, organise events, and compete against each other for prizes that reflect their skill and performance.
Outcomes on Rivals are determined entirely by the skill of the players competing. There is no element of chance, randomness, or luck in determining who wins a competition on Rivals. A player who performs better, by every measurable in-game metric, wins. This is the same principle that governs any other competitive sport or skill-based event.
Rivals is not a gambling platform. Rivals does not offer betting, wagering, or games of chance. Tournament entry fees on Rivals are event registration fees — the cost of competing in an organised event — exactly as they would be in any other competitive sport or esports tournament. Prizes are awarded solely on the basis of competitive performance.
Think of Rivals the way you would think of entering a tennis tournament, a chess competition, or a professional esports event. You pay to participate. You compete using your skill. The best player wins.
To use Rivals, you must:
By registering, you confirm that you meet all of the above requirements. If we discover that you do not, we reserve the right to suspend or close your account and, where applicable, return any outstanding competition funds.
We are actively developing age verification features and are committed to ensuring Rivals is not accessible to minors. Formal age gating will be implemented before full commercial launch.
To access Rivals, you must register for an account. During registration, you will provide a username, email address, and password. First name, last name, and region are optional.
Account creation on Rivals currently operates through an invite system. Solo players must receive referrals from existing members to unlock registration. Team captains must form a full competitive stack of five players. This is part of our Beta access model and may change before full commercial launch.
Notify us immediately at legal@rivalsapp.com if you believe your account has been compromised
You may only hold one active Rivals account. Creating multiple accounts to misrepresent your skill level, circumvent a suspension, or otherwise exploit the Platform is prohibited.
You may optionally link your Steam and Discord accounts to Rivals. By doing so, you authorise Rivals to access the profile information returned by those platforms in accordance with their respective OAuth permissions. You can unlink connected accounts at any time from your account settings.
Rivals hosts skill-based competitive esports events across supported game titles. Competitions are structured as brackets or leagues, with outcomes determined entirely by in-game player performance. Match results are recorded automatically where possible, and verified through our platform integrations.
Each competition has its own format, rules, and prize structure, which are displayed in full before you register. By entering a competition, you agree to compete in accordance with those rules.
When you register for a competition with a tournament entry fee, the fee is deducted from your competition funds. By submitting your entry, you confirm that:
Rivals charges a platform service fee of 10% on all competition entry fee pools. This fee covers the cost of running, administering, and maintaining the competitive infrastructure — match servers, bracket management, result verification, prize processing, and platform operations. The fee is deducted from the total entry fee pool before prizes are calculated and distributed.
For example: a competition with a total entry fee pool of £100 results in a prize pool of £90 available for distribution to competitors. The platform service fee is always displayed clearly before you confirm your entry.
Prizes are awarded to the top-performing competitors based on the competition’s prize structure, which is published before the event opens. Prize awards are credited to your competition funds on confirmation of results.
Rivals is not responsible for delays caused by disputes over match results. Where your prize earnings are subject to local tax obligations, you are responsible for declaring and paying any applicable taxes. Rivals does not withhold or remit taxes on your behalf.
Tournament entry fees are non-refundable once a competition has started. If Rivals cancels a competition before it begins, entry fees will be returned to your competition funds in full. If a competition cannot be completed due to a technical fault on our side, we will use reasonable endeavours to provide a fair remedy, which may include a partial or full credit.
You can add funds to your Rivals account using the payment methods available in the Platform. All transactions are processed by our regulated payment partners. Rivals never stores your card details.
Funds held in your Rivals account are competition funds — they exist for the purpose of entering competitive events and receiving prize awards on the Platform. They are not an investment product and do not accrue interest.
Rivals reserves the right to refuse or reverse any funding transaction where we have reasonable grounds to suspect fraudulent activity, money laundering, or breach of these Terms.
You may withdraw available funds from your Rivals account at any time, subject to the following:
Your Rivals funds are held securely using regulated third-party infrastructure. We maintain user funds in accounts that are separate from Rivals’ operational funds, to protect them in the event of insolvency.
If your account has been inactive for 12 consecutive months and your balance is zero, we may close it. If your account is inactive and you hold a positive balance, we will contact you before taking any action.
Rivals is built on fair, skill-based competition. Every player on the Platform competes on equal terms, with outcomes determined purely by their in-game ability. Anything that undermines that principle undermines the integrity of the Platform and every player on it.
By competing on Rivals, you agree to uphold fair play in all of your interactions — both in-game and on the Platform.
The following are strictly prohibited:
If we determine, in our reasonable judgement, that you have breached this section, we may take any of the following actions depending on the nature and severity of the breach:
Where circumstances permit, we will notify you of the action taken and give you an opportunity to respond. Our decisions on fair play matters are final once the internal review process is complete.
If you believe a match result has been recorded incorrectly, you must raise a dispute within 24 hours of the result being posted, using the dispute function in the Platform. Disputes submitted after this window will not be accepted.
We will investigate all match disputes in good faith. We may request supporting evidence such as screenshots, game replays, or third-party verification. Our decision on match disputes is final once the internal review process is complete.

All content on the Platform — including the Rivals name, logo, design, software, text, graphics, tournament data, and competitive records — is owned by or licensed to Rivals Group Ltd. Nothing in these Terms grants you any right to use our intellectual property without our prior written consent.
You retain ownership of any content you submit to the Platform, including your profile information, bio, and avatar. By submitting content, you grant Rivals a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use, display, and reproduce that content for the purposes of operating and promoting the Platform, including promoting competitive events.

Match statistics, performance records, and competition results generated through your use of the Platform may be used by Rivals in aggregated, anonymised, or attributed form for leaderboards, platform analytics, competitive history, and the promotion of esports events.
The Platform integrates with third-party services including Steam, Discord, Twitch, YouTube, and payment partners. Your use of those services is governed by their own terms and privacy policies. Rivals is not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or conduct of third-party services.
When you connect a third-party account to Rivals, you confirm that you are authorised to do so and that doing so does not breach any agreement you have with that third party.
Rivals is a Beta product. It is still under active development and may contain errors, interruptions, or incomplete features. We do not guarantee uninterrupted access, error-free operation, or the continued availability of any specific feature during the Beta period.
Rivals provides the infrastructure for skill-based competition. We do not guarantee that you will win any competition, earn any prize, or achieve any particular competitive outcome. All competitive results are the product of player skill and effort.
We will use reasonable endeavours to keep the Platform available and to maintain the integrity of competitive events. We may suspend access for maintenance, security upgrades, or other operational reasons. Where planned maintenance is scheduled, we will give reasonable advance notice and will not schedule downtime during active competitions without good cause.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Rivals’ total liability to you in connection with the Platform or these Terms shall not exceed the greater of: (a) the total amount of competition entry fees paid by you in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim; or (b) £100.
We are not liable for:
Nothing in these Terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.
You may close your account at any time through Settings → Danger Zone → Delete Account. We recommend withdrawing any available competition funds before closing your account. Any pending withdrawals will be processed before your account is closed.
We may suspend or terminate your account if:
Where we terminate your account for reasons other than your breach, we will return any available competition funds to you through a reasonable method.
On termination, your right to access the Platform ceases immediately. Sections 9 (Intellectual Property), 11 (Limitation of Liability), and 13 (Governing Law) survive termination.
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
Before initiating formal legal proceedings, we ask that you contact us at legal@rivalsapp.com to attempt to resolve the matter informally. We will make good-faith efforts to resolve any complaint within 30 days of receipt.
If you are a consumer resident in the European Union, you may also have access to the EU Online Dispute Resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.
We may update these Terms as the Platform evolves. When we make changes that materially affect your rights or obligations, we will notify you by email or through the Platform at least 14 days before the change takes effect.
Your continued use of the Platform after the effective date constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree with a change, you must stop using the Platform and close your account before the change takes effect.
